01 - Context

Telenor wanted to explore new digital security products for the consumer market. Our team investigated several opportunity areas before developing Sikker Hjemme: a concept for making home network security more visible, understandable and actionable for everyday users.

The mandate was to explore and develop a new digital security product for Telenor’s consumer market. The project focused on identifying where customer needs, technical feasibility and business potential overlapped.

02 - My Role

As the sole UX designer, I was responsible for user involvement, interviews, analysis, wireframes, prototyping and visual direction. I worked closely with a developer and a business developer to balance user needs, technical feasibility and commercial value.

03 - Exploring Multiple Directions

Before selecting one direction, we explored several digital security concepts, including SMS Assistant, Call Assistant, Deepfake Detector, DataRens, Internettvakt, TryggEnhet and Sikker Hjemme. Each concept was evaluated against customer interest, feasibility, strategic fit and commercial potential.

04 - Research & Validation

The project was insight-driven and hypothesis-based. We combined quantitative and qualitative research to understand customer needs, perceived value and willingness to pay.

Data was collected through Surveys, interviews and meetings with experts in the field

05 - Selected Concept: Sikker Hjemme

Sikker Hjemme was selected as a concept for protecting home networks against suspicious activity while giving users a clearer overview of connected devices and their security status.

The concept focused on:

  • connected device overview

  • device security assessment

  • suspicious activity alerts

  • automatic protection

  • clear recommendations

06 - Outcome

The concept showed strong customer interest. Research indicated that users especially valued security assessments, overview of connected devices and automatic blocking of suspicious activity.

07 - Reflection

Working as the only UX designer in a cross-functional team gave me valuable experience balancing user needs, technical constraints and business goals. I also enjoyed working closer to the business side of product development, especially exploring perceived value, willingness to pay and strategic fit as part of the design process.
